In review, accepted or needs attention: what your document status means
The status belongs to the document, not your mortgage
A green document status does not mean a lender has approved your mortgage. It tells you where that particular upload stands in our document review.
In review
Your upload is waiting for review. You usually do not need to upload it again just because it has not yet changed status. If a financing deadline is close, tell us the deadline so we can discuss priorities; a status is not a promised turnaround time.
Accepted
The team has checked off the document in the portal. Keep the original. The lender, insurer or legal professional may still need clarification or a newer version later.
Needs attention
The document needs a change or replacement and you receive a notification. This is not a judgment about your finances. Common reasons include an unreadable photo, missing pages, the wrong date range, a screenshot without your name or a file uploaded under the wrong person.
How to resolve a request calmly
Read the explanation first. Replace or supplement the document as requested, using the correct item in the portal. If the request is unclear, ask: “Which page, date or detail is missing?” Do not keep sending the same document hoping the status will change.
If you cannot obtain the exact item, tell us what you can obtain and when. We can ask whether an alternative is acceptable. A substitute needs to be confirmed, not assumed.
Why an accepted document might be requested again
Approvals and closing can be weeks or months apart. A lender may need current pay, new account history, proof that a gift arrived or confirmation of a change. We will help explain whether the request is for an updated document, a missing detail or a different purpose.
What counts as mortgage approval?
A lender commitment may still carry conditions. Financing-condition removal, signing and funding are separate steps. Rely on our explanation of your actual commitment and your legal professional’s guidance, not a document colour alone.
